Trend: artists+fabric houses+digital technology = some stunning results!

Take a look at this newly launched collection which caught my eye. It’s called DESIRE and is a collaboration between fabric house Romo and artist Jessica Zoob. It was launched last week at Maison & Objet, the renowned trade show in Paris as part of the “Black Edition” brand.

Romo has reproduced Jessica’s paintings full-size on three-metre wide fabric panels, as well as printed on linen and velvet by the metre, and cushions. The collection has a really timeless feel to it and I can see it working equally well in a country house or a loft apartment. I love the boldness of the designs!

Equally as original is this design (below left) by artist Melissa White who has joined forces with fabric & wallpaper house Lewis & Wood to create a dramatic “damask-y” fabric called ROCOCO.  Rococo is available as a wide-width wallpaper, a linen and a luxurious velvet. Melissa also designed the scenes of Venice in the new Tespi Collection by Zoffany.

The “Tespi” range at Zoffany also designed in collaboration with artist Melissa White.

Another example is this wonderfully colourful pattern by fabric house Pierre Frey printing the work of artist Marie-Cécile Aptel on linen. I can see this one working really well in a city apartment, a children’s or teenager’s room or anywhere where you want to add a splash of colour and an element of fun.

Finally, this has recently become so much a trend that the Fashion and Textile museum has just opened an exhibition on the subject starting this weekend.
