Talking interior design trends: It’s back to the 70’s

We know we are not meant to slavishly follow fashion, but some of the trends dominating interior design this year are so strong that we can’t resist a quick light-hearted round-up.

It’s a well-known fact that fashion comes full circle and currently everything from clothing to cocktails is being heavily influenced by the 1970s. One only has to look at the catwalk to see the abundance of flares and platforms. True to form interiors trends are also currently succumbing to the influence of the era that bought us pattern, texture, colour and shagpile carpets!

And here is the 2015 equivalent…

For a dash of the 70’s try the rhododendron task lamp from Orla Kiely. If you are feeling a little more brave mix it with the Sevilla orange chair from Habitat and add in the Claude two drawer chest from Jonathan Adler
